Anti Ragging

Ragging has been defined

  • As any conduct by way of words or action which teases,treats or handles freshers with rudeness.
  • Rowdy or undisciplined activity which might cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm to freshers.
  • Making freshers perform something which causes shame and embarrassment in them.

What all amounts to ragging ?

  1. Abetment to ragging.
  2. Criminal conspiracy to rag.
  3. Public nuisance created during ragging.
  4. Violation of decency and morals through it.
  5. Injury to body, causing hurt to in any manner
  6. Wrong confinement.
  7. Use of criminal force.
  8. Assault or sexual/unnatural offences.
  9. Extortion.
  10. Criminal trespass.
  11. Offences against property.
  12. Criminal intimidation.
  13. Attempts to commit any or all of above mention offences.
  14. Physical or psychological humiliation.

If Caught

  1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  2. Deprived of scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
  3. Debarred from appearing in any test/examination.
  4. Denied results as it could be withheld.
  5. Expelled from hostel and admission gets cancelled.
  6. Debarred from representing university in any event.
  7. Rusticated from institute for 1 to 4 semesters.
  8. Expelled from institute.
  9. Debarred from gaining admission in other institutes.
  10. Imposed upon fine of Rs.25000 to Rs. 1 Lakh.
  11. Put to collective punishment.
